THE CONCORD INSTITUTE

FOUNDING OF THE INSTITUTE

This educational institute was founded in 1990 to provide post-graduate education for professionals interested in broadening the theoretical and practical scope of their work with individuals and/or groups to include the spiritual dimension and its integration with the more familiar bio-psycho-social dimensions of human experience. The programs and services of the Institute enable the professional to build on the best of his/her previous training and experience, to revise, or discard, what no longer works, and to develop the new skills necessary to render professional service to others more effective and satisfying. Different programs/services speak to the needs of different professions and settings, but all offer training in the principles and practice of holding a spiritual context for professional work.

The educational approach of the Institute is innovative in its integration of conceptual and experiential learning, its emphasis on the principles and process of psycho-spiritual development and the use of method/technique to collaborate with these, and its formation of vital learning communities within the programs that provide on-going personal and professional support. Its focus is both inclusive of the many orientations to psycho-spiritual growth and detailed in the practical applications of the learning in professional work.

The Institute is also part of an informal international network of individuals and organizations who, each in their own ways, are exploring this field of the transformation of human consciousness and behavior within a spiritual/global context.
